Colombian prosecutors investigating the discovery of about 100 bodies of humans in various prisons
BOGOTA - At least 100 human corpses have been found in a sewer La Modelo prison in Bogota, Colombia. Prosecutors say most of the bodies in a mutilated condition.
There
are allegations that the bodies that the average human can not
recognize that the bodies of prisoners and prison visitors who were
killed during the 1999-2001 period. In that year the enormous political violence in Colombia.
La Modelo prison has long been one of the most brutal prisons of all the famous prison in Colombia. Prison was a "home" for the leftist FARC rebels, right-wing paramilitaries, until the drug kingpin.
Caterina Heyck, investigating prosecutor of the Office of the Attorney
General of Colombia said that, in addition to the prison La Modelo,
human corpses were dismembered have also been found in some jail in
Popayan, Bucaramanga and Barranquilla.
"Towards the end of last year we started to investigate the
disappearance (of people) and the mutilation of the number of (body)
that has not been determined at La Modelo prison in Bogota," said Heyck
told reporters.
"The victims were inmates, visitors and people who have nothing to do with prison. Remnants (bodies) they are thrown into a drain pipe from the sewer
system, "said Heyck, as quoted by IB Times, last night (18/02/2016).
One of the victims who survived the prison and tell the tale is a reporter named Jineth Bedoya. In 2000, he was kidnapped, tortured and raped while investigating
cases of alleged weapons of Trade, corruption and kidnapping in La
Modelo.
He was attracted to the prison to meet a right-wing paramilitary leader, Mario James, known as "El Panadero" or "The Baker". When it come to a rural car ride, he was brutally attacked a few hours.
Bedoya has sued the Government of Colombia for failing to provide justice for what he experienced. She is now happy, because there is an investigation related to the number of victims in the prison complex. "I am grateful for the action taken today.
